Frequently asked
The questions we get most, straight answered.
Ordering biryani for a room full of people is one of those tasks that looks simple until you have to do it. These are the questions we get most — on the food, on delivery, on billing.
- What kinds of biryani do you cook?
- Three: chicken, veg (paneer + seasonal vegetables) and kathal (jackfruit). All three are cooked in the same sealed-handi Awadhi style, in 1 kg, 2 kg and 4 kg handi sizes.
- What makes Awadhi biryani different from other biryani styles?
- Awadhi biryani is cooked using the dum method inside a dough-sealed handi. The flavour profile is aromatic and layered — saffron, cardamom, cloves — rather than heavy on chilli. Hyderabadi biryani is spicier and tangier from yogurt and chillies; Kolkata biryani is milder and often includes potato and egg.
- Is your biryani very spicy?
- Awadhi biryani isn't built on chilli heat — it's aromatic, layered with saffron, cardamom, cloves and mace. And because a dum handi is cooked in layers (lighter saffron rice on top, marinated meat and richer masala settling towards the bottom), the same handi can serve mild, medium or slightly hot plates depending on where the server scoops from. Serving dum biryani well is an art in itself: a lighter spoon from the top for guests who prefer mild, a deeper one from the base for those who want it richer — all from one pot.
- How much biryani do I order for my guest count?
- Our handis are sized by raw rice — 1 kg of raw rice dums down to roughly 4.5 kg of biryani, enough for about 8 hearty plates. A 1 kg handi comfortably feeds 10–15 guests, a 2 kg handi 16–24, a 4 kg handi 32–48.
- Do you deliver in South Delhi and how much notice do you need?
- Free delivery within a 10 km radius of Sangam Vihar, South Delhi. Beyond that we still deliver — the fee is quoted on WhatsApp. Minimum notice is four hours; a day in advance is kinder for 4 kg handis or three-plus pots.
- Are you on Zomato, Swiggy or Magicpin?
- Not yet — onboarding is in process across Zomato, Magicpin and Swiggy. Once we're live on those platforms we'll open up smaller-portion delivery too (single plates, half-kg portions), which our bulk-handi minimums don't cover today. Honest truth: we've had to turn away genuine small orders because the smallest sealed handi is a 1 kg pot, and fixing that is on the way. Until then, WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us.
- Can you cater weddings, engagements and office parties?
- Yes. The sealed handi holds temperature and aroma for hours, which is exactly what a wedding side-lunch, engagement, office spread or family gathering needs. Tell us the guest count and date on WhatsApp and we will work back to the right handi mix.
- Can I mix chicken and vegetarian in the same order?
- Yes — for mixed tables we send two separate sealed handis (e.g. Chicken 2 kg + Veg 1 kg) so the vegetarian guests get a proper vegetarian pot, not a spoon-out from the chicken handi.
- Do you issue a GST invoice for corporate orders?
- Yes. We invoice with GSTIN 07ABHFB0763H1ZK for company orders — team lunches, office parties, offsite catering, board-meeting drops. Bank transfer / company account payment is welcome. Send the WhatsApp note with your billing entity name and GST, and the invoice comes back the same day.
